Taking the time to repurpose PLR content - checklists, blog posts, worksheets, presentations, or ebooks - doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be super fun with the right resources and a little bit of creativity!

All you need is some PLR content, a couple of hours, and a pen/paper to start outlining your new and improved repurposed content. You can also find research tools online to help your content stand out. The more time and effort you put into your repurposed content, the better it will be received by your audience.

Planning to Repurpose PLR Content

Okay, so you have some PLR content sitting on your hard drive, not being used. Or, maybe, you've used it once and not looked at it since. Let's bring it back to life.

First up, we need to think about how you could remix your existing PLR. Could you turn that checklist into a tutorial? Or make that outline into talking points for your next YouTube video? Could you be converting a video into a podcast? The possibilities are endless. Your first job is to brainstorm all of those possibilities for each piece of PLR content you have.

While brainstorming, you also need to establish what you want to achieve with your content. By this, I mean do you want to grow your email list, get more sales, or organic increase traffic?

You won’t want to hear this, but: the clearer you are about what you want, the easier it will be to repurpose PLR content.

You shouldn’t simply throw new content onto the web without thinking about what you want your audience to do after they finish consuming it. What result do you want your audience to achieve after reading your content?

Before you get into the nitty-gritty of editing, be sure you’re confident about the next step your audience should take. Consider how you’ll be using this content in your funnel. Do you hope to use it as an opt-in gift? As a tripwire product? Will you be encouraging your audience to sign up for your mailing list? Nudging them toward a video course? Recommending an affiliate product?

When you know this, it’s easier to repurpose PLR content.

Getting the right tools for the job

Efforts to repurpose PLR content may require you to download and install new software or apps. Spend a few minutes learning how to use these tools so you can quickly get your content reformatted.

Now that you have a vision, it’s time to begin editing. You can strip out anything from the content that doesn’t match your plan. Remember, it’s OK to delete portions of the PLR.

I am forever creating copies of PLR content to use it for different things. For example, if I want to turn a blog post into a checklist, I can pick out the bits I need and delete the rest without worrying because I still have a complete copy.

If you are using audio, video, or text, you may find it’s best to trim it. This is especially true for long-form content that might do better as shorter clips and snippets.

It's important to include terms and phrases that your audience looks for when seeking content. However, don't try and stuff keywords to rank well on Google (that approach rarely works these days).

Repurpose PLR Content to Make it yours

Don't be afraid to customize your branded content by adding your thoughts and opinions while you're branding it. Remember, your community is learning from you because they trust you and want you to lead them.

Candid stories and opinions make great additions to most PLR content since it can often be neutral and lack personality.

For example, if you are rebranding a PLR blog post about starting a business, you could add your thoughts and opinions about making a great business idea. You could even go further and share a real-life example of one of your own business ventures.

Sometimes, PLR content creators keep things brief, especially in outlines and checklists. If you feel a section needs more expansion, beef it up. Your audience will appreciate how thorough you are.

You can even add new information to an existing section if there’s something you think they’ll want to know. If you’re looking for new topics to cover, you might discover something while researching a previous post. If you decide to go this route, cite your sources so readers know where to find more information.

Other Things You Can Do To Repurpose PLR Content

Include examples: If you have screenshots or images that will make it easier for your community to consume your content, include them.

Sprinkle in testimonials: A simple way to make your content unique is to add testimonials from your customers and clients. This boosts trust in your brand and makes you look like an expert in the eyes of your audience.

Take a stand: Compare two possible options in your content, then take a strong stand for one. Be honest about why you prefer this option over the other one.

Invite questions: If you’re going live on Facebook, creating a webinar, or otherwise using an interactive format, encourage your audience to ask questions.

Combine PLR: If you have videos, audios, or webinars from other sources, it’s an excellent idea to combine it all until you have a meaty, unique piece of content or a valuable course!

Mine your archives: In addition to linking to your products, don’t be afraid to bring up valuable old content you’ve created. You can match up content provided you edit everything to make sure it matches your tone and branding. Your audience will appreciate it as long it’s valuable.

Brand it: As you’re working, keep in mind that you want to brand this content as your own. That means including your colours, fonts, and logo on all graphics and documents. You'll probably wish to re-brand everything, so it looks like you created it.

Create a social media campaign: Services like MissingLettr let you design a campaign, so your content is shared periodically throughout the year.

Offer to guest blog: A great way to promote your new content is to guest blog on other sites with larger audiences.

I hope these steps have been helpful in your efforts to repurpose PLR content. If you have any questions or suggestions for future blog posts, you can comment on this post or reach me on social media. Thanks for reading!
