As a business owner, one of your biggest wins will be making the decision to build an email mailing list. The second biggest win will be growing said list. But with so much to do, the last thing you want to do is add "come up with an awesome lead magnet design" to your Monday morning plans. Yep, I understand. So, I want to talk about how lead magnet templates may be a game-changer.

Also, unless you have your SEO spot on, waiting for sales on Etsy or Amazon could take a while. It isn't fun to wait, either.
But, if you build an email list, you do own it. Other than something ridiculously devastating, nothing can take it away from you. Not even GDPR, if you have your bases covered.
Here is the best thing about an email list. Have a new product? Could you send an email about it? A new blog post? Could you send an email about it? Need traffic to something? Yes, you can send an email about it: no waiting and definitely no relying on things you don't own. Trust me; you can thank me later.
Sounds great, right? So, how do you build an email list? You need an high converting lead magnet (or several).
So, first up, let's take a quick look at what precisely a lead magnet is and how they can help you grow your business. Then we'll look at the benefits of lead magnet templates.
What is a lead magnet?
Put simply; a lead magnet is anything that people have to sign up for, which helps you grow your mailing list.
Lead magnets reward people for sharing their email address. This helps you to turn more random visitors into qualified leads so you can grow your business.
What would be an irresistible lead magnet?
The things a website visitor might hand their email address over for is highly dependant on your content and niche topic. For example, if your blog is about personal development and you gave away something about flowers, the uptake may not be that high. Unless, of course, you skilfully linked the two.

I would rather spend 100 hours building an email list than posting on Twitter or Facebook. I have my reasons, but they are for another post.
Now, in my opinion, a person's email address is precious. This is important for two reasons:
- People don't want 1000s of random emails every day. So, the offer of "updates" is unlikely to get people signing up these days. You need to stand out. It would be best if you offered something they want or need. Otherwise, they will not hand over their email address.
- Your subscribers do not need to let you into your inbox. If they don't like your emails or you only send realms of links they are not interested in, they are well within their rights to unsubscribe. So, I highly recommend treating your subscribers with respect, love, and gratitude. You are in their inbox because people allow you to be. If you remember this, people will become your biggest fans.
All that being said, building an email list is an ongoing job that you have to keep on top of. But the benefits of using lead magnets are massive. Here are some of them:

Now, I know what you're thinking: but I'll need a website to have a lead magnet set up.
Not necessarily. I do always recommend having a website as part of your business. It is another thing that you own. If you have a website and an email list, they are yours. Yes, people might stop visiting or unsubscribe. But on the whole, they are yours. In reality, these are the only two places you want people to end up.
