If you create content to answer questions to help your audience, you'll end up with a lot of evergreen content that you can use and reuse. 

Foundational content addresses everything that meets at the intersection of you (your business), your product or service, and your audience. 

But how do you work out what this content should be? 

Your evergreen content strategy needs to revolve around the core aspects of your business. By this, I mean, what are your answers to the following questions:

  • What do you do? 
  • What is your expertise? 
  • Who do you serve? 
  • What do you know?
  • Why do they need to know? 

Done properly, answering these questions should give you a lot of information you can base your evergreen content strategy on.

As you work on that foundational content, your values will help you keep your voice and tone relatable to your audience. 

A mission statement is a way to describe what you do, and a vision statement is how you envision the world (or space) after you've been successful. 

Once you do this, now you can get to the point by creating content that is feature and customer-centric, which most of the time will also be evergreen.

This type of content is useful. As it gives a high return on investment because, if you set this up correctly, it'll be a lead generation machine. It'll work for you 365 days a year, 24/7. 

So, if you do nothing else, work on developing foundational evergreen content that you can pull from throughout the years that you are running your business. When you do that, you'll vastly improve your search engine results and be able to provide higher value to your audience. 

Evergreen content ought to share your essential brand messages, provides core business information, and works to drive traffic. 

To get in the right frame of mind, create customer avatars, and put the customer in the centre of your thoughts as you create this content.
