4 Mistakes That Will Tank Your Etsy Shop - Bplans

This post from Bplans uses the case study of one store owner to show 4 common Etsy mistakes many people make just because they fail to plan before you make a listing go live. I highly recommend giving this post a read as it has some super useful info.

1. Have a plan

This bit explains why I am sharing this link with you! Planning is key to running a successful business:

"Etsy is a good marketplace option for crafters, in part because there is potential to access an audience who is already looking for handmade items right on the site. But it’s still a business—and there aren’t any guarantees that you’ll be successful unless you do some planning."

Don't be fooled by the title of this post, this might look like just another list of mistakes Etsy store owners usually make but it is filled with fantastic advice. I really enjoyed reading this and think it is ridiculously valuable.

Social Media

One of my favourite parts is the one dedicated to social media:

"So, the only major barrier left between you and sales is visibility and getting people to focus on your items among all the other items for sale. Etsy gives you the storefront, but you must do your own marketing, and social media is the way to do this."

As someone who runs an online business I can 100% support this. In fact, if I'm not working on new products I'm almost always doing something on one of my social media channels!
